Dear Parents and Campers,

Tonight students are coming home with their second Math test for our first  unit of math in Number Sense and Numeration.  These  2 marks will be averaged out for a final report card grade.  I will put the final grade on top of the test coming home tonight. It will appear Ex.  "Overall NSN: L3".  Please go over the test with your child tonight and correct the errors using a pen.  I am going to go over the test today as well.

Here are what the levels indicate...

R:  Student did not achieve a passing grade (similar to an F).
L1:  Student demonstrated limited knowledge (similar to a D).
L2:  Student demonstrated some knowledge (similar to a C).
L3:  Student demonstrated consistent knowledge (similar to a B).
L4:  Student demonstrated thorough knowledge (similar to an A).

AM 800 Cans for a Cause:

Every year, the grade 3 classes participate in a canned food drive in support of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  AM 800 hosts an event called Cans for a Cause each year at the Devonshire Mall Food Court.  As a kick off to our GIVING Advent Season, students are challenged to collect as many cans as possible over a 2 week period.  Then, we pack our back packs with 9-10 cans each and walk the cans down to the mall where we unpack and donate our cans to the cause.  It's a great way to start our Christmas season by helping those in need!
This event is usually in December, however, our school is also collecting cans for the same charity beginning next week.  Since this is too early to start collecting, we will hold on to any cans you might send in now until our scheduled walk to the mall.  I am waiting on the date of this year's AM 800 Cans for a Cause event... Stay tuned!
