Hello Parents and Campers,

This week's language quiz will be an oral test on how well your child can make a prediction.  We have a classroom posted anchor chart, as shown to the right, that they are allowed to reference during their prediction.
To review, you can use any fiction book from home or in your child's take home reading pouch to practise making a prediction.

Welcome back to a FULL week of school!

Math:  Monday, you will receive your child's unit test to review, sign and return.  We now begin a unit in Measurement:  Calendar / Time / Temperature.

  • solve problems involving the relationships between minutes and hours, hours and days, days and weeks, and weeks and years, using a variety of tools
  • read time using analogue clocks, to the nearest five minutes, and using digital clocks (e.g., 1:23 means twenty-three minutes after one o’clock), and represent time in 12-hour notation
  • estimate, read (i.e., using a thermometer), and record positive temperatures to the nearest degree Celsius (i.e., using a number line; using appropriate notation) (Sample problem: Record the temperature outside each day using a thermometer, and compare your measurements with those reported in the daily news.)
  • identify benchmarks for freezing, cold, cool, warm, hot, and boiling temperatures as they relate to water and for cold, cool, warm, and hot temperatures as they relate to air (e.g., water freezes at 0°C; the air temperature on a warm day is about 20°C, but water at 20°C feels cool)

Social Studies:  We have begun a new unit on Living and Working in Ontario.  We will be learning to ...

Parent Teacher Interviews:  This week, parents have the opportunity to meet with teachers on Wednesday, November 14th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.  I have spoken with many of you already, however, if you would like to come in a touch base even though I checked off the box 'teacher does not require an interview at this time', please feel free to request one and I'll schedule you in!  Bring your specific questions and concerns as we only have approximately 10 minutes per interview.
Looking forward to seeing you Thursday!  I'll send you a confirmed time in your child's agenda.  Be sure to sign so that I know you will be coming.

This week...

Reminder this week is a short week, no school on Friday!

THRoW:
This week's THRoW is a Non-Fiction selection, so please have your child follow my modelled example for NON-FICTION.  THRoW is due Thursday, as it is a short week.

MATH TEST:
This Thursday, we will have our unit end math test on Patterning with Numbers and Relating Multiplication and Addition.  I will send home workbooks this week for review.
