Dear Parents and Campers,

NO THRoW THIS WEEK!

We have started a new Science unit on Forces.  We will be investigating the following forces;

  1. Muscular Force
  2. The Force of Gravity
  3. The Force of Friction
  4. Erosion
As a change of pace, our unit on forces will consist of a series of Bill Nye the Science Guy and other relevant videos.  Each student will then receive a review sheet of the key point on each video to review that evening. The next day, we will have a short quiz based on the key points of each video.  Students in the past have really enjoyed this style of learning.  A final mark will be given from the average of each quiz.

I have modeled how this will look by showing the students a video on Forces last week. Then I gave them the review sheet.  They also wrote an OPEN BOOK quiz so they know how to use the information from the review sheet to answer the quiz questions.  Next week, however, they must review at home in order to do well on the quiz the following day.  It will not be open book.  Each of the videos will be posted on my blog for you to review together if you wish.

Monday - Video and Review sheet on Muscular Forces
Tuesday - Quiz on Muscular Forces
Wednesday - Video and Review Sheet on the Force of Gravity
Thursday - Quiz on Gravity

Then the following week:

Monday - Video and Review Sheet on Force of Friction
Tuesday - Quiz on Force of Friction
Wednesday - Video and Review Sheet on Force of Erosion
Thursday - Quiz on Force of Erosion
