SECRET QUESTION:  What instrument are we playing in our Christmas concert?

Monday, December 17, 2018

Dear Parents and Campers...

I'm sad to say, almost all of my campers who were sent home with incomplete Social Studies work to do (I'm traveling to ___ Land Region suitcase), returned today with their suitcase craftivity STILL unfinished.  I will use last recess to stay in with them to get them completed.  Please ask your child if they have any unfinished work to complete so that it gets done in the future.  I want students being responsible in completing unfinished work.

Also,  Math tests are coming home tonight.  I encourage parents to  purchase a dollar store analog clock to work on telling time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour and by five-minute intervals for review.  There are many students who still require practise with this concept.

Reminder:  Our Christmas Concert begins at 1:15 Thursday in our school gym.  All are welcome to attend.

Our class will be hosting a classroom Mass this Friday with Fr. Tony.  All are welcome to attend.  Mass begins promptly at 1:30 pm.  Please let me know if you plan on attending in your child's agenda.  Sign in at the office and meet in our classroom by 1:30 pm.

Friday, December 14, 2018

Dear Parents and Campers,

Great week this week!

Math:  We've finished our unit in Math on in Measurement: Calendar, Time and Temperature and next week we will start a unit on Data Management.  Today's tests will be sent home Monday of next week for you to review, correct, sign and return.

Social Studies:  Some students did not finish their land region suitcase craftivity.  Their Social Studies green duo tang will be sent home on the weekend to be completed.  Only #s 1, 2, 4, 17, 19 are completed.  If your child's number is not one of these, they must finish this task for Monday.

Language Quiz: Please sign and return your child's language quiz.   If your child still does not know their personal information, please learn it at home for next week.  It will be part of another language quiz when we return in January.  This is a matter of safety, and your child MUST know this important information in the case of an emergency.

Have a great weekend!

SECRET QUESTION:  What is 7 x 3?

Happy Monday, Parents and Campers!

This week...

THRoW:  I have replied to each camper's letter to me with a personalized friendly letter in their THRoW duo tangs!  I really enjoyed reading all of those letters! There were many interesting questions asked to me! Please have your child respond to my letter this week on regular lined paper.  This is to see if they can set up a letter properly and follow standard letter format.  Please encourage them to read and reread my letter to make sure they respond to MY questions.  Also, read the feedback I gave to make bump ups in this week's letter.  Can't wait to read them!

MATH TEST:  We will be assessing our unit on Measurement this Friday.  I will be sending home the duo tangs for review.  Please practise telling time and reading temperature on a thermometer this week.  There are some helpful online games students can play on my blog.  See Math games and More Math Games.

Cans For a Cause Advent Kick Off Pics

Congratulations Camp Wilson and 3D for raising over 427 cans for the St. Vincent De Paul Society!  I am so proud of my campers who carried 11 cans each and marched them down to the Devonshire Mall as a way to kick of our Advent Season by giving to those less fortunate than ourselves.  We couldn't have done it without our AMAZING parents!  Thank you very much for making this such a success!  Also, a big shout out to the parents and grand parents who came out and helped out!  What a great day!

Dear Parents,

It has come to my attention that several photographs that I have posted are not showing up on the blog when you view it on your phones or computers.  Thanks to Mrs. Bensette, this issue has been resolved!  So, if you would like to see the photographs that were posted, please go back and see them on older posts.  I have updated my blog and now know how to properly upload images so that they can post successfully.  Many times, I include anchor chart pictures to help you at home, so again, I apologize for any inconvenience and especially to those who missed out on enjoying their children who earned student of the month.  Please let me know if this ever happens again as I now understand how to correct this!

Homework Wednesday Night:
MATH CORRECTIONS

Parents, tonight, please have your child go through each page of their Math duo tang and make all necessary corrections.  The analog clocks must show an accurate time to be marked correct.  So, for example, if the time to draw on the clock face is 8:30 and your child draws the hour hand pointing directly at the 8, it is not accurate and therefore marked wrong.  8:30 would show the hour hand in between the 8 and the 9 (as it's half-way to 9:00).  Please assist where needed.  I cannot manage all of these corrections on my own.  Having an analog clock to use as a manipulative would prove very helpful if you have access to one.

Thank you for your support.

Hello Parents and Campers!

This week marks the FIRST WEEK of Advent!  The first candle was lit this past Sunday at mass on the Advent wreath.  It is a purple candle that represents HOPE.  During this time of waiting, we prepare our hearts and our minds for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ by being extra kind, patient and loving to others.  Giving to the hungry is one way our class family is going to try to give back to those who have not.  This Friday, our class is working hard to bring in canned goods and non-perishables for our walk to the mall this Friday for AM 800 Cans for a Cause!  All donations will go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.   Our goal is to collect a total of 200 cans!  We CAN do it!  Thanks in advance, parents, for your contribution!

Hey!  I see that I have some Followers!  Lol, it's a new gadget I added to see who is following my blog regularly - but I think you still get my instant notifications anyways...but if you can, click on Follow and you'll be added to my growing list!

This week...

NO THRoW - I will be conferencing one-on-one with students on their letter to me from last week.  Next week, I'll send them a reply letter for one final letter back to me!  This is so much fun!  Make sure your child reads my letter first so that they will answer some of my questions in their next letter!

HOMEWORK:  Please check your child's agenda daily to see what homework needs to be completed for the next day.  This week only.
